Yesterday I posted about going back to my former office to talk about business professional dress and realized that I have not posted about work wear in awhile… sorry ladies! I know that buying for business professional can get super expensive so I headed to one of my go-tos when I worked in a corporate position for close to 15 years, Banana Republic Factory. I love the place because they consistently have professional items and seem to always have a sale **updated use code SALE20 through 2/18 for extra 20% off**
When I went for my try-ons I just wore a nude pair of Cole Haan pumps but I’ll link some shoes and jewelry that would look great with these work outfits.
Before we get started let’s also get the awkward conversation out of the way, I’m 5’5 and typically wear a 10/12. I’m a 36DD and in most tops a medium or 8/10.
Man I love a ruffle and when I saw this pencil skirt came with a tie waist and paperbag style waist band I knew I needed to top it off with more ruffles! This style of waistband can many times make me look really wide but this fit well around my waist when I sized up, but the best part is the pockets. The top has a fun sleeve with a double layer ruffle. I grabbed this one to pair with the skirt but it comes in two other colors and as you could guess I love the pink as well. The great part about this skirt is it has a matching blazer so if you are in a work environment where you need to be in a suit you can grab that as well.
Fit Tips: Size up in the skirt I’m in a 12, top runs tts I’m in a medium.
Now it’s a little bit hard to tell from the pic but these trouser pants are a different plaid from the skirt above. These have a few lines of pink and beige where the other is just black & white. These are not lined but a bit thicker so they really smooth out the booty plus have some stretch to make them comfortable to wear daily. I grabbed the petite for length which fit great but had to size up.
Fit Tips: If in-between size up and if grabbing a petite size up I’m in a 12P. Top is tts and I’m in a medium.
When I first saw these pants I wasn’t even going to try them on because I thought “wait I can’t have the same style pull-on waist band as my 4 year old” but thank goodness I did! These ankle pants are slightly tapered but have the most comfortable mid-rise and flowy feel I swear they felt like pj pants but look like work pants! Now I will warn you, you might want to keep that top only a front tuck or throw a jacket over because it still feels a little grandma style to have a pull-on pants but oh well! The top I paired it with comes in a ton of fun prints and this one is under $25. I like the dolman sleeve so in a work environment you can take off a jacket and not be sleeveless or wear on it’s own as it gets warmer. For a business environment where you can wear jeans this is a great option with a blazer and flats.
Fit Tips: Top fits tts I’m in a medium. Pants fit tts and I’m in a 10.
Let’s just say when I saw a pink dress with these frilly sleeves I fell in love. It is semi-fitted so I would have sized up so it wouldn’t hug as tight on the booty. It has a thinner stretch fabric so great for the spring and summer months especially in Texas. It’s 40% off making it $54.99.
Fit Tips: Size up if in-between, I’m in a 10 but was a bit tight in places.
This tweed dress has a structured cuff on the sleeve giving it a little bit of a puff sleeve. Looking at it I thought it would be a thick stiff tweed but it’s the exact opposite, it was very soft and stretchy. Since it’s a thinner soft stretch this one is pretty form fitting and the skirt hits below the knee to give that classic Jessica Pearson feel (if you don’t know who that is you need to watch some Suits!)
I found this dark green sleevless top in the store and thought how perfect with these pink crop pants! It has the same dolman sleeve as the earlier print one so it’s great for business casual or professional. The pants I grabbed in a petite so they would be a true crop and looked online and it I can only find this color in the petite but they are 30% off so if they fit grab them! These have some stretch and are a thicker rayon/cotton blend with a mid/low rise.
Fit Tips: Size up if you are going to the petite, I’m in a 12P. Top runs tts I’m in a medium.

Now I promised a few shoes and accessories go with these workwear looks but I am the type that I would rather spend a little more on my shoes (seeing that they always fit) so here are some of my favs from a few places:
