Gibson x LIY Try-ons

My Gibson items have arrived from the new Gibson x LIY collection! Now keep in mind that I am a small potatoes blogger compared to many out there and I do purchase all my items. If I want to stay married (which I do) that means I can’t buy every piece so I picked my favorites from the collection that I thought I would get the most use out of.

For sizing reference I’m 5’5 and normally a 10/12 in bottoms and typically a M in Gibson tops although I am a 36DD so if something has less give or is fitted it can run tight for me across the chest.

Next is many of the items you see are currently sold out in my size, please don’t freak out if you see something you love this happens almost every Gibson launch because items are only available online many people tend to buy multiple sizes, prints and then return. Inventory will come back in about a week or so and I post on my Facebook Page when I see popular items back in stock.

Sidenote: I am working HARD to some day be on the Gibson influencer team for launch day items but to do that I have to be able to see what you love. So please consider not shopping via the Nordstrom app when on your phone/tablet. Not only does it not credit the sale to me but it keeps me from seeing what you like most! Thank you for considering this option.

Willow Tiered Peplum Top | Jeans | Sandals | Earrings

Now this top was so hard for me to pick the sizing and print to keep, honestly I love both the hot pink and green leopard so much. With the small peplum ruffle it dresses up jeans or shorts but definitely could also be worn with work pants for a workwear outfit. I ordered the pink in a M and the green in a L, the pink was a little tight across the chest wearing a regular bra but I felt like the L was just a little too baggy in the body so I’m sticking with my true M size. Hopefully you all know my love for the True & Co wireless bras so I’m going to try this style that I don’t have yet since it has thinner straps to see if that brings down the girls just enough.

Fit Tips: top size up only if you are larger chested and want some room in the belly area, if not stay tts. Jeans are tts, 10 // shorts size down if in-between, 10 // sandals size up 1/2 size

Lily Eyelet One Shoulder Dress | Fascinator | Heeled Sandals | Earrings | Denim Jacket | Flip Flops | Shapewear

This one shoulder dress is a really pretty option for summer events. I love the eyelet and one shoulder detail. I will say though if you have hips you need to size up in this one, I’m in a large with my favorite lightweight shape wear and it fits fine but tightest at the hip area. Now I love this dressed up with a fascinator for derby days or throw a denim jacket over and you have a cute backyard bbq look.

Fit Tips: Dress size up, L // Sandals tts // Jacket tts, M // Flip Flops size up 1/2 size (almond color)

Tulip Split Neck Top | Shorts | Bag | Earrings | Flip Flops

This is a top that I wish that I had purchased in more than one color on launch day because OMG it’s so cute! I love the ruffle collar with a split neck, it has a 3/4 sleeve that can be pushed up because it has elastic at the cuff. It flows perfectly and is not too long again it’s pretty flipping good. I love the yellow stripe that I have but wish that I had also grabbed the mint. This is another top that has super limited size availability currently but I foresee some coming back in stock soon so keep an eye out (and tag me when you see a mint color in medium).

Fit Tips: tops tts, M // Shorts tts, I sized up just for white but otherwise I wear a 10 // Flip Flops size up 1/2 size

Dahlia Romper | Jacket | Necklace | Similar Wedges

So this romper has had mixed reviews online, some people are like OMG cutest ever and some are like… yeah they look like pjs. I get it, I feel like the floral pattered rompers needed a little something to break up all the floral so I added a long necklace and jacket. The romper has an elastic waist that is then covered by the top piece. The shorts are lined so although the fabric itself is thin the shorts are not see through. They have pockets and a back zipper to get in and out of. After trying this on several times I think I am more comfortable in the scallop edge top and matching black shorts (see next look) as a romper looking outfit versus this one.

Fit Tips: Romper tts M // Jacket tts, M // Wedges size down 1/2

Savannah Scallop Edge Top | Ivy Paperbag Shorts | Peach Earrings | Similar Leopard Clutch | Rose Gold Glitter Pumps | Kimono | Red Earrings | Wedges

It’s a romper, no it’s shorts and a top! Talk about the most perfect outfit EVER!! So when I saw Erin from Living in Yellow start making sets of items in the collection I thought oh that’s genius you get 2 pieces that you can mix and match with other tops and bottoms but then an outfit that looks like it’s one piece but the potty situation is solved. I decided to go all black because for me I feel like I would wear an all black style romper more than any other color although you can do this with yellow stripe, the red print, and navy.

I wanted to show this as two very different outfits, one more of a girls night out look with a cute clutch and sparkle pumps (or even a fun color pump would be awesome) and then for maybe a more casual dinner look. My go to for summer casual has been light weight kimonos and since this one has a more waterfall front it doesn’t take away from the look of the cute outfit but just gives a little pop of color. It’s paired with some red chandelier earrings I just picked up from the Stella & Dot pop up store in Dallas which sadly just closed.

Fit Tips: Scallop Edge Top tts, M // Shorts size up I got the LP and they were too tight in the hips I should have just gotten the L // Kimono tts I’m in M/L // Glitter pumps tts // Wedges size up 1/2 size

Wide Leg Crop Pant | Eyelash Lace Date Top | Similar TB Red Tote | Similar Navy Heels

At this point I hope you understand that I am here to speak my truth with these items and that does NOT speak for all bodies but just mine. So I wanted to love these pants, when I saw the sneak of the ruffle pocket I died and was soo excited. When I got them in I tried a few different ways to style them for my curves without looking huge so I pulled out this adorable lace top from the Gibson International Women’s Day collection because I knew I needed something to balance the wide leg and I loved the subtle red, white and blue theme. With that said I still didn’t completely love these, although they are so soft and comfortable I don’t think they flatter my body.

Fit Tips: Pants tts, M // Top runs small so size up if in-between, L

Daphne Scallop Edge skirt | Willow Tiered Peplum Top

Ok I know what you are thinking, Ryanne you said this is a try-on why the heck is this on your kitchen table?! Well, as recommended I sized up to a large but even with that this skirt would not even zip up all the way!! It has no give because it’s completely crepe (I thought the waistband was stretchy.. doh) so no matter what I did it wasn’t cute but this is what I envisioned my outfit to be because the hot pink colors match and it would make a super cute work outfit for someone, just not me.

I would need to get this in an XL to even zip up and even with that since it has absolutely no give I would be afraid that at some important event I would split my skirt so here is your warning… it’s adorable but understand that this is a lightweight crepe with no give so size up accordingly and I would say AT LEAST 1 size.

Love the fake out black romper look! I’m a s&d stylist, and I am so jealous that you made it to our pop-up shop. I would have loved to have visited. And I am so happy I stumbled on your account today. I’m a curvy girl myself and just had my fourth kid. I love how you are playing up Mama curves!
