It’s the first day of fall and while I have been ordering boots and sweaters it’s still REALLY WARM in Texas. This is the time of year when Texans actually ENJOY being outside! Over the fall and early winter we host a good amount of events at our home and at almost all of them we end up hanging out in the backyard.
Now I’ll be honest our backyard has been one of the last places that we have paid attention to but now that we have been doing more events it was time to take advantage of the end of summer sales and replace A TON of things in the backyard. First we definitely needed a new table. This one we got about 10 years ago (I remember this because I rocked both my kids in those chairs when they were babies… just a reminder one is 7 and the other 4.5 yikes!).
Since at this point the arms and seats were rusting and I did not feel like pouring a day into refinishing I went hunting on Wayfair for end of summer sales.
I knew that I wanted a table that would seat at least 6 and would somewhat match the other chairs that we had just gotten on MASSIVE sale from Lowes.
After looking through tons of items I landed on this teak 9 piece set that included 8 similar woven chairs and table that has an umbrella hole and the ability to expand or retract.
We also ended up grabbing a new umbrella because we needed a larger diameter to help cover the table. In the past couple of years in the DFW area we have had some MASSIVE storms with pretty fast wind and I’ve had to run out to our patio at 2 am to pull down our umbrella because the stand was pretty flimsy.
This time around I went with a solid concrete stand and the umbrella tightens into the stand so no worries that it would be flying into our bedroom windows at 2am! The unfortunate part though it that it keeps the side chairs from fully pushing in but in my mind it’s worth it for the peace of mind
If you noticed there are 6 chairs at the table and I said that this is a set of 9 so you are correct this set came with 2 more chairs and cushions!! We don’t need this many set on a daily basis so they will be going into our garage but we have plenty of events when they will be needed. If you don’t want 8 chairs check out this smaller set.
Although our temps are cooling and it will be nicer to be outside staying comfortable while entertaining is important. This dress from Cabana Life is PERFECT for looking nice but staying comfortable. It is breathable, stretchy, lightweight, wrinkle free and the most important part it has SPF 50 built in!
Cabana Life has just released a new line of fall dresses that all keep sun protection in mind because the company was founded by a skin cancer survivor. I was so impressed with the quality and fit I literally put this on and did not take it off until I got into bed! The style I’m wearing is called New England Bay Button Down Dress and it comes in two prints. Use code RECRUITERMOM20 for 20% off your purchase.

Now one of the reasons I need to stay comfy is because I’m the one that is manning the grill! One of my favorite things to make on the grill is an Italian burger loosely based off a burger from Galaxy Cafe in Austin, TX.
I grab some fresh basil from my garden and eventually I will have tomatoes growing too but we just started a new crop so I’m a few weeks away from full grown. Then I throw the burgers on our new Lynx Grill from StarPower in Southlake, TX.
- 1/4 lb beef patty
- Tomatoes sliced and marinaded in a high quality Balsamic Vinegar
- Fresh Mozzarella sliced and slightly melted on the patty
- 1 slice of Prosciutto
- Bun of choice
Now ENJOY!! I’m so excited for more parties and just hanging our with friends in our upgraded backyard. HAPPY FALL Y’ALL!
