As these collections tend to sell-out quickly I wanted to give you my sizing recommendations first.
I am typically a 10/M/ 36DD in Gibson tops and L/12 in Gibson bottoms. I am 5’5 and in-between a petite and regular on length in most pants and skirts depending on fit. I did not receive all pieces in the collection so I will be basing my other sizing recommendations off of previous purchases and online guides. This collection is running more generous than collections in the past so in the pieces I received if in doubt size down.
- Sunbrella Ruffle Colorblock Wrap Dress, size down if in-between I’m in a L but could have sized down to a M and still had enough chest room.
- Cabana Strappy Maxi Dress, size down this is running generous in a M and it’s perfect.
- Paradise Tiered Maxi Skirt, size down if in-between I’m in a L but could have done a bit smaller too for it to sit on my natural waist, I prefer a bit looser skirt so I’m sticking to the L.
- Seashell Scoop Back Bodysuit, true to size, in a L fits exactly as the bodysuit from the resort collection with full coverage rear.
- Bonita Ruffled Racerback Tank, true to size, M
- Coconut Henley Halter Tank, true to size, M
Items in collection I did not receive:
- Flamingo Tiered Colorblock Dress, size down if in between I would order M
- Playa High Waisted Short, true to size I would wear L. This is pretty high waisted though and with a 3.5″ inseam a bit shorter than what I typically wear.
- Sunshine Ruffled V-Neck Top size down unless busty but this is almost the same cut as a style from winter and I wear a M. It has minimal stretch and fully lined but has a flowy cut.
- Beachcomber Wide Leg Halter Jumpsuit, tts fully lined, ruched elastic waistband. I would get L for chest room
Sunbrella Ruffle Colorblock Wrap Dress
This dress I was not 100% sure I was going to love but once I put it on my body I was a total believer! It has as fit and flare look with elastic waistband and tie. The ruffle collar also has a snap close so although it has the wrap look nothing is going to be pulling.. oh and did you notice the POCKETS!!
I’m in a large which I still have a good amount of room in the bust and arms so if in-between size down. This also comes in a red/ pink combo that I almost grabbed but decided to try some blue and I’m so glad I did. I will say that this is more a true navy in person with a light blue color blocking bottom.
Cabana Strappy Maxi Dress
I’m a HUGE maxi dress fan and I thought that I loved the one in the resort collection but this one has topped it! The skinny straps are adjustable to control the amount of cleavage seen and it is fully lined with a lightweight fabric. I absolutely love the flow of this one and it’s long enough for a small wedge but I love it most with my Tory Burch Miller Sandals.
I’ve had many people ask for a maxi without pockets so this one would be for you! It does run generous so size down, I’m in a medium.
Paradise Tiered Maxi Skirt & Seashell Scoop Back Bodysuit
Let me warn you, this might be the bodysuit that changes your mind about bodysuits (unless you already love them)! This bodysuit has thick enough straps for a regular bra AND wide enough rear for my mama booty! I love that it’s also lightweight now in navy and hot pink. I will warn you this navy WILL GO FAST! True to size, I’m in a large.
This maxi skirt reminds me a TON of the style in the resort collection earlier this year except it’s coming in more color choices, they added pockets and a lightweight lining!! So basically similar skirt but BETTER! This is another item that is running on the generous side, I’m in a large and still have about an inch of extra fabric but I prefer a bit looser fit so I would stay with my current size.
Bonita Ruffled Racerback Tank
This tank is where my Gibsonxhisugarplum addiction started. I love a great sleeveless top especially living in the hot Texas summers but I don’t always want just a plain tank. Then comes in this adorable cotton tank with a ruffle racerback. Needless to say I’m pretty sure I own every color it’s ever been made in so I was happy to add this new gorgeous coral color to the mix. This season it’s offered in navy, coral and white and I wear a medium.
I paired it with my new favorite denim skirt from Kut from the Kloth that has the perfect amount of stretch, length and cute distressed hem. Skirt runs true to size, in a 12.
Coconut Henley Halter Tank
This is another Hi Sugarplum favorite that has been upgraded! This button halter style came out last summer and I grabbed several colors. This year the Gibson team brought back an off-white but made it in a silkier lightweight fabric with almost no see through… slow clap ladies I’m impressed. I wear a medium but size down if in-between it does run on the larger side.
Now I will say since this has a high, thin halter style not many racerback bras work great with this and I avoid a strapless when I can so this True and Co bra has been pretty much the only one that is hidden for me, Soma now has a similar style but I have not tried that one yet.
The shorts are a favorite from Nordstrom and unfortunately are selling out quickly! I wear a 30 so size down and if your size is already gone try these rolled cuff shorts instead.
Thank you so much for joining me to celebrate the launch of this amazing collection. Although this summer will be very different for all of us I hope that you are enjoying this time with your family. Please be safe and remember to always lead with kindness.
