It’s here the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2020 and let’s just say everything is a bit different and a little weird. Although I kinda like it! For the past two weeks we have been able to view what will be on sale and so I put together outfit inspiration boards. Now that I’ve been able to try some of these items on in real life I’m giving you updated sizing tips. Once all of my items arrive I will do a separate post with my top finds and fails!

One of my favorite times to pick up some workwear that can also we worn casual or for events is during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. My FAVORITE blazer from Gibson is on massive sale. I also try and pick up one classic dress and a few blouses to layer. Here are my outfit ideas.

Fit Tips: Blazer tts, M // shell tts, M // jeans size down if in-between, 10 // Pumps tts
If you haven’t realized already this Gibson blazer is on my must have list! It’s the lowest price during the anniversary sale that I’ve ever seen. It can easily be dressed up or down and with some knit stretch it’s also comfy!
Fit Tips: Jacket tts, M // Pants are fitted and slimming so size up if you want a bit more breathing room I stayed with compression and in a L // Cami size up for larger chest, L // pumps tts
So many things to say about this outfit! First I love this Caslon knit blazer, I got a lighter pink last year and wore it A TON. This berry color is new for the season and love how it will look great with fall and winter colors really giving me a ton of use. The Spanx Perfect Black Pant are a legging/ pant that I tried months ago when I reviewed leggings for work. These have the same slimming/ compression you would expect from Spanx with a good ankle length. I’m in a large but could do an XL for a bit more breathing room or if I was wearing sitting down a lot.
This chiffon cami you are going to see a lot because it’s lined, has great flow and can be layered with a ton of jackets and cardigans. The drawback is it only comes in 2 colors but worth grabbing black and white in my opinion.
Fit tips: Blazer tts, M // Cami size up for larger chest, L // skinny jeans are running more true to size this year 12R // Rothy’s points size up 1/2
This cami and blazer on on my must have list because they both can be worn so many ways! Here I have it styled for business casual or work from home but the cami can easily be paired with a skort or activewear short and easy late summer outfit. The Blazer looks great with dresses, jeans and pretty much every work outfit!
Fit Tips: This Halogen sweater is running shorter and slimmer than I had hoped, I thought it would be more tunic length and it’s just not so size up if you want a looser fit, I’m in a M but need a L // Ankle Pants tts but run long, in a 12 need 12P// loafers size up 1/2
Out of my workwear inspiration this sweater was a fail in my opinion. I had envisioned a longer tunic style to pair with these work pants and this just wasn’t what I was looking for. It is though very soft and a great color but they had this sweater last year and it went on MAJOR sale around Thanksgiving and I think I would wait.
The pants though are AMAZING!! These are some must have workwear/ WFH pants! These are a thick, stretchy Ponte material without being too tight. I’m in a 12 though and they are SUPER long, while in the store they did not carry any petites in KUT they do have it online so I will be reordering in my correct size.
In Texas it’s all about layering in the fall! We can get 60 degree or 80 degree days you just never know. That’s why I love all these options that start with a lightweight layer then add on heavier. I also tried to pick some items that I have something similar from previous sales but then add a few new picks to round our my 2020 closet like the Barefoot Dreams leopard cardigan, Steve Madden camo wedges and Madewell orange cardigan and stripe bag.

Fit Tips: Cardigan size down if in-between, M // Jeans size down, 10R // Cami size up for larger chest, L
I was not able to grab yet the wit & wisdom jeans I envisioned with outfit but these raw hem style are pretty cute as well. If you are looking for a jean that has a less “skinny” leg these are great. I’m in a 10R and would still be a good length with sneakers.
Fit Tips: Tunic tts, M // Leggings tts, L // Booties size up 1/2 if wearing socks I wear none and went with my true size.
This might be one of my favorite outfits of the entire sale! I love the Gibson Cozy tunic because it’s not too thick, covers the booty and has a good v-neck shape. I’m not a big fan of the Spanx faux leather leggings like many people are because I get too hot so instead I’m pairing with any leggings I have a home, these Amazon CRZ are just as cute and less sweaty!
Fit Tips: Cardigan runs oversized in M // Jeans tts, 12 // Booties tts, size up 1/2 if wearing socks // tee size down if in-between, M
Fit tips: jacket tts, M // cami size up for larger chest, L // jeans tts, 12R // Booties tts
Now I wasn’t planning on a new faux suede jacket BUT this one has more of a grey hue than anything else I own and I’m loving the color for the season (this is French taupe). The BLANKNYC moto jackets are my favorite because they are very well made, look great with a ton of outfits and are thick enough for most of our winter months. I have it paired here with the Blondo Bootie in dark taupe suede but I’m hoping it will also pair well with the Vince Camuto in Tuscan Taupe Suede (color I ordered).
Fit Tips: Top tts, M // jeans size down, 10 // Booties size up 1/2
Fit Tips: Sweater size down if in-between, M // Cami size up for larger chest, L // Jeans are VERY long on me I’m in a 12 but need 12P these are super stretchy // Booties tts
BABY, IT’S COLD OUTSIDE
Eventually it will get cold in Texas and I feel like it happens right after we have had a beautiful mid 70s day then BAM 45 degrees! So I try to stock up on jackets, cozy tops and leggings for when it turns. This year Gibson is bringing the cozy with several styles of their popular lightweight brushed cozy fabric. I project all the animal prints to be an early sell-out but honestly every color is worth having, I would know I have a few!

Fit Tips: pullover tts, M // Pants are fitted and slimming so size up if you want a bit more breathing room I stayed with compression and in a L // Hunter boots tts
Now it doesn’t get super cold in Texas in the fall but it does get WET! We tend to get a fair amount of rain so I’m always looking for great fall outfits to wear with my Hunter boots. These are an older style of “refined” boot, which are a little more slimming than the regular but their packable boot is also a slimmer shape and lightweight as well and included in the sale.
This Gibson pullover with animal print and cozy material is the perfect rainy weather top. It’s like their other cozy material that is soft yet lightweight and great to layer. Now I love the darker animal print to pair with black but the oatmeal color is gorgeous as well.
Fit Tips: Cardigan tts but does run tight in the arms, M // jeans size down, 10 // Booties tts but go up 1/2 if wearing socks
The Barefoot Dream circle cardigan!! Now this is one of my all time favorite purchases during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale but to be honest I haven’t purchased one for myself in a LONG TIME so this year when I saw the green I said it’s MY year!! Also 2020 has been a doozy and I want all things cozy that feel like a hug. I’ve had people ask if these are “worth it” and my answer is YES! They feel like a mix between a chenille baby blanket and a cardigan. I machine wash and hang dry mine so it doesn’t shrink and I think my original I’ve had for 5 years (might be more I can’t remember).
I think it looks great pair with these Wit & Wisdom itty bitty bootcut jeans as a cute yet comfy family dinner outfit. These jeans are super leg lengthening and slimming but they do run BIG! Size down an entire size in these and at 5’5 I’m in the regular length. Wearing the Blondo booties they hit almost at the ground and a bit higher bootie works too.
Fit Tips: Cardigan tts, M // Tee size down if in-between, M // joggers tts, L
I’ll be honest this Barefoot Dreams Cardigan was part of the anniversary sale section at my store but I can’t see it anywhere online so I’m guessing it’s coming later. It’s a lighter weight material than the circle cardigan and it has a tie like a robe which I love. Paired with my Gibson joggers and let’s just call this my Sunday outfit!
Patagonia Better Sweater Quarter Zip Performance Jacket (pelican)| Full Zip version | High Waist Studio Pocket 7/8 Leggings (I’m in an older version) | Nsale Hydroflask or Amazon tricolor one | Nike React Infinity Run Flyknit Running Shoe
Fit Tips: Top runs tts, M // Pants tts, L
WOW so that’s what I found for outfits and must haves from the sale. I tried to find staples that can be worn in several ways, items that are reasonably priced and ones that don’t tend to go on sale quickly after. So now it’s time to finish up that wish list, get comfy and hit that add to cart button!
