Dressing for my body not what TikTok says
Over the past month I keep hearing about skinny jeans being “out” and all these styles that I “should” wear to be in fashion. Honestly as a fashion and lifestyle blogger I can get wrapped up in this mindset.
I headed to Evereve to check out some straight leg jeans and found these KUT from the Kloth Reese straight leg jeans. The wonderful stylish women there swore up and down how great they looked. Then I pulled out what is considered to be the “it” shoe a slip on mule with a pointy toe and put together this outfit.
I’ve seen similar outfits on other influencers but as soon as I put it on I knew it was all wrong. I kept moving my bag to cover half my body because it just wasn’t me.
As much as I tried to elongate my leg, point my toe, pretend that I was a size 2, 5’10 influencer it just wasn’t working and I could FEEL IT!!! I was going with the “trend” and I stopped listening to what made ME feel good.
Then I slipped on these Spanx perfect black pants some heels and I immediately told Audrie I FEEL LIKE ME!
I looked at these pictures and I could see how my confidence changed 100%! I had fun, felt comfortable and even my smile was genuine vs. forced in the previous set of photos.
I learned such an incredible lesson that day. My body does not look like a 20 year old’s on Tik Tok. I don’t look the same in styles as someone half my size or 5 inches taller.
It’s ok to say I’m dressing for MY body and what I feel good in. In 10 years when I look back at these photos I won’t remember which was the most “trendy” at the time I’ll see genuine happiness and confidence in my skinny pants.
So ladies, you do you. I’m going to continue to share what I feel looks best on my body and if you can relate to that then awesome! If you want to try some trends I’ll be here for that too but it will not be at the detriment of feeling my best.
