Each year during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale I always grab a few pairs of KUT from the Kloth jeans to refresh my fall and winter wardrobe. Maybe it’s because I’ve gained or lost a few lbs, sometimes it’s trying a few style but mostly it’s because I wear my jeans the MOST so I like having a variety on hand each year.
I don’t know about you, but jean shopping sometimes can be soul crushing and exhausting until I figured how to find the best fitting jeans for MY body. Today I’ve partnered with KUT from the Kloth to share with you how I find my best fit and style from the jeans that are included in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale.
WHAT I LOOK FOR
I have been buying KUT from the Kloth jeans for YEARS because they are one of the few brands that really fit my body well. Although even in their mix of jeans there are some that fit me better than others.
Most KUT from the Kloth jeans have a rise between 9 3/4″ – 10 3/4″ rise. That for me has been the perfect not too high, not too low golden area. I tend to like the 10 3/4 rise best these days and those are labeled “high rise”.
The inseams on KUT from the Kloth jeans tend to be long, some as long as 30″ so for my 5’5 height ( aka shorter inseam) I look for the “ankle” styles and petite lengths. The Catherine Boyfriend style has the shortest length with a wider leg and rolled cuff that is 26″ in the regular and even shorter in petite.
RISE is the distance from the middle of the crotch seam (right between your legs) to the top of the waistband. It usually ranges from 7 inches to 12 inches. Pant rise is important because it determines where your pants sit on your body, which in turn creates your perceived waistline.
INSEAM is the measurement from the crotch to the bottom of the leg or hem.
Then I look at distressing, hem finish and zip vs. button. Again I LOVE the variety I find with KUT from the Kloth I can get a classic dark blue pair of non distressed jeans (great for a work place) with the Donna High Rise Fab Ab Ankle Skinny in Alive. Or go a little more date night style with the button fly and distressing of the Donna High Rise Fab Ab Exposed Button Fray Hem.
WHAT THEY LOOK LIKE
So here is a comparison of styles so you can see them on my size 12, 5’5 frame. Keep in mind I have more straight hips and fuller thighs (H shaped rear).
The Catherine Boyfriend Jean is a style I’ve been buying for years! I love that is has a wider leg but still fitted around the hips and thighs so it’s not adding too much bulk. I am wearing these in a 12R and they are too long on me and slightly large so I would grab these in a 12P for best fit. These are slightly lower in the rise and hit right below my bellybutton. If you like the length then size down if in-between.
These jeans look great in early fall with some sneakers and tee!
These button fly distressed black jeans are basically the cooler sister to my most worn KUT jeans last year. I love the fit of the skinny leg, open knee and higher rise. These are on the thinner side with great stretch for perfect for date nights when I want to look cute and comfy. I’m in a 12R and typically keep this size and take a little bit of length off myself with a fresh cut then wash for the fray. If you are not comfortable cutting your own jeans these are available in a petite length.
I would wear these with some cute bootie and Moto jacket for fall.
This style of KUT skinny jeans is my favorite this season! It has a ton of stretch, higher mid-rise (10 3/4) and a raw hem. Now I am in the 12R and for a little bit shorter rise and length I would prefer these in a 12P. I like the lighter wash and will be wearing these I ton!
These are my go to jeans for booties, tank and cardigans in the fall.
While you would think that the black pair of these High Rise Ankle skinny jeans fits just like the previous pair in blue, they don’t! These are actually 1″ longer in the inseam and slightly shorter rise 10 1/2. These felt like they also ran bigger than many of the others so if in-between for sure size down on these. I feel like my best fit will be the 12P and would still have a little extra room.
These don’t have any rips in the leg but do have a raw hem so if you are looking for a “work” jean keep that in mind.
I wear these with a cute cami and blazer for a polished date night look!
If you have been on the hunt for a classic dark wash jean these are it! These have a bit lower rise than the previous “high rise” at 10 1/2″ and have an “ankle” cut so a 27.5″ inseam. With this style I wear with a lower profile bootie or knee high boots so I don’t worry about going to a petite length. This is a more traditional skinny jean with tighter ankles and finished hem.
I like these with tall boots (rain or suede) and a cute jacket
Now these were my least favorite style that I tried, maybe because it reminded me how short my legs are! These “skinny” jeans are a relaxed fit which in my book makes them more of a straight leg look/ style. As you can see these are very long on me with a 30″ inseam these run the longest but are also the shortest rise 9 3/4″. If you are looking for an alternative to a skinny jean these are a great option. I would need these in a 12P for length.
Wear these with some mules and cardigan for a polished fall look.
Man that’s a lot of trying on jeans for July! I hoped this helps you select the best fit during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. Keep in mind only card holders are currently able to shop but the sale opens for public access on Wednesday July 28th!
