It’s that time of year where everything in stores is starting to feel all pumpkin spice and fall leaves yet here in Texas it’s still blazing hot. Today I’m sharing some new arrivals from two of my favorite stores for workwear LOFT & Ann Taylor to help build your fall workwear wardrobe.
This time of year is a great opportunity to invest in pieces that you can wear now and later!
Fit Tips: size down if in-between on dress in a 12 but it was large at the chest // pumps size up 1/2
During this season I try and purchase lightweight tops and dresses that can later on be added to as season progresses. One of the easiest ways to build your fall wardrobe without tons of heat and bulk is by first looking at the colors of the upcoming season.
Each year Pantone will identify the colors they saw most on the runways and this year I’m LOVING the warm neutrals mixed with classics. Here are some of the colors I looked for while shopping.
Fit Tips: size up 1/2
Not going to lie I started with these suede heels! I loved the warm camel color online but was pleasantly surprised when they were a bit lighter. These were amazingly comfortable for me when I sized up 1/2.
Fit Tips: Blazer size up if in-between, 12 // Booties size up 1/2
Then for later in the season which out the pumps for these gorgeous leather booties and add a stretchy yet classic blazer. Now this blazer you are going to see a ton. I love the classic shape, caramel color, soft stretchy fabric while also being fully lined AND machine washable!! Let’s just say I think this blazer is a MUST HAVE.
The booties are a great deep brown color and with a pointed toe higher shaft these look great with dresses and slacks.
Pointy Toe Leather Booties size up 1/2
Fit Tips: Blouse tts, L // Skirt tts, L // Cardigan size down if in-between, M
Unlike the LOFT tops this Ann Taylor blouse has a silky thicker fabric. It has a typical shirttail rounded hem so I find it looks best tucked in. The colors though are stunning and it looks great on it’s own or with an open weave cardigan.
I am wearing a pull-on ponte skirt with this outfit and because it’s tight I absolutely need shape wear. If you want something with a bit more structure this one from Ann Taylor is also knit but is lined.
Fit Tips: Dress tts, 12 // Blazer, 12 // Pumps size up 1/2 // Belt, L
This dress I showed as soon as I got it on Facebook and y’all flipped for it! This Ann Taylor ponte dress is soo pretty with puff sleeve and stretchy material but it does run on the shorter side and it hits above my knee. This rosewood color is perfect for fall just extends the wear into cooler days.
I added the blazer and belt for my “later” look and love how it all comes together so beautifully. TIP use a clear hair tie at the end of your belt to keep it tucked while wearing a dress.
As I mentioned previously one of my other tricks during this season is LOAD up on lightweight blouses in fall colors. This way I can layer with cardigans and blazers later. LOFT just launched a TON of gorgeous prints for fall and I’m loving the pin tuck ruffle style.

Fit Tips: Blouse, L // Pants run small, 14
This blouse has just enough flow with a flutter sleeve to keep you cool yet cute. The LOFT tops I got are more of a woven feeling so they hold their shape well and are a greta length to keep untucked or tucked.
Now unfortunately these LOFT pants are VERY low stock in black have sold out in black BUT I found a very similar ankle pant at Ann Taylor that I also love. They come in a bi-stretch fabric in tall, petite, regular and curvy basically a pant for everyone!
If you can grab the LOFT pants just know that they are pretty high rise (11 1/4″) and run small, I’m in a 14. So although I love the leg they are fairly uncomfortable for me because of the super high rise.
Fit Tips: Cardigan size down, M // Cami, L // Pants size up, 14 // Jeans tts but run long, 12
This now and later look takes you from work to weekend with this long striped cardigan. I know many of you were heartbroken with the Madewell stripe sold out but this one has some of the same fall colors with a longer duster style. Paired for work or weekend this cardigan is just as soft, stretchy and that mid-weight great for early into later fall.
Fit Tips: Blouse, L // Pants tts, 12 Regular/ Modern fit // Blazer, 12 // Flats tts // Pumps size up 1/2
Now I have a lot of teachers that are looking for something in-between business and casual and these brushed olive pants are perfect for fall. They have a soft almost cord feeling with stretch and button fly they can easily be dressed up or down.
Fit Tips: Blouse runs large size down if in-between would prefer M // Pants tts, 12 but run long (these are tucked under)
This is another woven blouse that has such gorgeous fall colors that I had to grab it. It has a mock ruffle collar, pleating and button front. To be honest this one fit me the worst out of all of them. It was a bit too oversized and the ruffle sleeve was a little overwhelming so I think if I sized down this would be a bit more fitted and look better.
I haven’t loved many pants from LOFT lately so I pulled out my trusty Liverpool Stretch Ponte pant and it’s perfection! These are mid-rise comfy and had a great straight leg style great for work.
Fit Tips: Blouse tts, L // Pants tts, 12 // Flats tts
As soon as I saw this blouse I KNEW I had to have it for fall! It’s such a stunning color and paired with these olive pants I’m not too hot but look like I’m ready for fall festivals. The drawback is this color has been going in and out of stock even though it’s a new arrival so keep your eye peeled for it to come back.
