I can hardly believe it’s December! While I’m in the holiday mindset of parties and bling most days we are all working. For those of you that are going into an office I wanted to share some new arrivals from one of my favorite places to pick up quality workwear, Nordstrom.
Nordstrom is one of my favorite places to shop because their in-house brands like Halogen have a variety of great workwear options and the free ship & returns make it easy during this busy season. I’ve been buying Nordstrom made brands for years and as a former corporate recruiter I’ve learned a few tricks to find what fits my body best!
Fit Tips: Dress size down if in-between runs slightly large, L // Pumps tts
During the time that I worked in recruiting I slimmed down for my wedding then gained and lost weight with 2 pregnancies. It’s NOT fun trying to find workwear when half my closet didn’t fit at any given time then I got smart to stretchy dresses!
Having a dress with stretch but a flattering shape made it so much easier to keep in my closet even if I went up and down a few pounds (hello holiday Oeros I’m talking to you!)
This Halogen sweater dress has more of a knit feel with a loose-fitting bodice and hip-hugging ribbed skirt. Since I know that some of you will ask, no I am not wearing any shape wear with this dress but would prefer this dress with some shape wear.
Although I love that it is regular bra friendly but has a pretty back cutout for some interest. The shoulders have a little bit of a pad giving a great classic look.
I’ve added this chain necklace that goes with so much (I wore it with all my looks) it’s under $40 so looks way more expensive than it is.
My next workwear staple is a flowy top! This print has some great winter colors without feeling too “holiday” plus it has a great flowy where it looks great untucked, with a skirt or under a jacket or cardigan. The buttons are functional so if you are a working mom that is pumping this is a great option.
Fit Tips: Blouse tts, L // Pants run small size up need 14 // Heels tts
These Halogen pants have a great slim leg but they do run small! I’m in a size 12 but they are pretty tight through the belly and thighs. Also they are long on my at 5’5 so I had them slightly cuffed for a good length, if you are taller you have some inseam to work with!
Another classic shape that seems to flatter my curves is a wrap top. This one from Halogen has a snap close at the front and it is folded under making it great for pants or with a skirt. For winter they have updated this blouse in a satin bright red and beautiful floral print perfect for work or holiday parties.
Fit Tips: Blouse size down for smaller chest, in a L // Pants run small size up need 14 // Heels tts
For work I prefer more the chiffon style that comes in 6 different prints/ colors. I’m wearing the Red Pomegranate color and it looks great with these leopard pumps but matches these new Sam Edelman Hazel pumps in Bordeaux beautifully.
If you are not as busty then I would size down in this blouse I’m in a large and prefer that size to ensure that I’m not popping the snap but it still has some room.
While it’s busy this season hopefully you are taking some time away from work to relax and enjoy!
