I get this question A LOT… what shapewear do you love? Honestly it’s impossible to answer because I love different styles and brand for different outfits and situations. Over the years I’ve listed a few of my favs here and there but I thought I would go ahead and make a “master” list I can add and update.
Now I’ll be fully transparent whenever possible I try and NOT wear shapewear. If it’s a flowy dress and I’m just worried about thigh rub I use THIS. I’m typically slipping on shape wear only when it’s a fitted dress or a special event.
Since I was putting in bottoms I figure let’s chat also about what I wear on top so I’ve also gathered my favorite bras for all situations. Keep in mind I’m a 38DD so it needs to work!
SHAPEWEAR & UNDIES
Eby Brief & High Waisted Brief
Let’s start with my everyday undies that stay put and disappear under clothing! I like the brief style for shorts/ jeans and wear the high rise with dresses and pants that hit a little higher. While they don’t have any “tummy slimming” I do feel like they help smooth without being compressive. I size up to XL.
Commando Classic Control Shorts
For years I wore the Spanx Thinstincts short but they”upgraded” it and I hate it! So I went on a hunt and finally found the Commando Classic Control short. These are the perfect lightweight but smoothing short that doesn’t roll, is not too compressive and has a higher waist without coming all the way to my bra. I wear these in a large.
Last year I had several formal events and the dresses I wore showed my Commando Shorts in the slit so I went hunting for a shapewear I could wear under tight dresses to lift the booty (without lines), slim the tummy AND not roll. These from Honeylove were a slam dunk and I’ve worn them a bunch sense. This has boning in the sides to prevent rolling plus a light mesh booty to disappear under clothing. I wear this in an XL.
Maidenform Convertible Tummy Control Bodysuit
My friend Angela found this full body shapewear on Amazon and I was hesitant. Nearly all I’ve tried did not have enough chest room for a 38DD. This one has a similar leg feel to the Commando but also has grippers, soft underwire and enough room (maybe a little small) in the chest. It’s lighter weight so not too compressive but has great slimming paneling. I wear in XL.
BRAS & BODYSUITS
Wacoal Red Carpet Convertible Strapless Bra
This is hands down my favorite strapless bra and I’ve tried A LOT! This has a large size range and the perfect amount of lift and modesty padding without it being padded or slip. Now it does come with straps for convertible options like crossback, halter, one shoulder etc but typically I just wear as a strapless.
I always get questions on what bra I wear that doesn’t show under even the thinnest tees… this one! While I also like the Vanishing 360 which has a thinner cup this style seems to fit me the best and I like the cup shape that seems to life the girls a bit while also having wide panels on the back and sides to smooth. This bra starts off tight and as I wear I does stretch a bit so keep that in mind when buying. I wear 38DD.
Soma Vanishing Front Close Bra
This is the style bra that is great for tanks that cut in just a bit but not a full racerback. Plus let’s be real a front close can be fun lol. Soma in general runs small in the cup when it’s a front close so size up! I wear 38DDD.
I’ve tried a ton of “sticky” bras and HATED them because well I would like my nipple to stay intact or once I was hot and sweaty they would slip… until I found Cakes! These are not sticky but instead “grippy” so they adhere with my bodyheat making them even better in warm weather. Also when applying if you lift a bit then stick they help give a seamless and lifted look. The biggest reason I love them is that they come in DD AND itty bitty (great for those teens and tweens that love a tube top).

Floatley Convertible Wireless Bra
For those days when I’m 100% not feeling a wireless I love the Floatley brand wireless bras. I’ve had the scoop and v-neck styles but when they came out with this genuis adjustable back it hit the top of my list! These don’t squeeze the ribcage like other brand and the biggest selling point, embedded pads!! I wear this brand in a XL.
Recently I tried a few styles from Shapermint because they have a ton of styles at really great prices! This bodysuit was the perfect “just enough” shaping and slimming under some trouser shorts and pants that were just a little too tight but sizing up wasn’t an option. I was so happy with the feel of the fabric (breathable) and shaping. This though is fairly thin so I added my Cakes under for some modesty when wearing alone. I wear this style in XL, use code RYANNE20 for extra 20% off.
The final undergarment is one I’ve needed for awhile and thats a good cami for slimming and under sheer tops. I love that these are slimming and shaping, can be worn with a regular bra and are long enough to tuck and smooth the belly. These have seaming to help accentuate the waist and banding to stay in place. Only issue their sizing is way off! I wear a 2X, use code RYANNE20 for extra 20% off.
