Fall 2023 | Living & Dining Home Decor

As I’ve looked back over the years I tend to share my fall and holiday home decor the most. Maybe it’s because it’s a change from my typical neutral costal palette or maybe because it kicks off a season I love. Either way I’m here for it and for the first time in over 20 years I’m going to have a REAL fall!

If you are just joining me our family moved from Texas last December so this will be our first fall in the Denver area. Last year we knew we were moving so I visited the area over Labor Day weekend and in October and fell in LOVE. Now I’ll be honest the weather has not been the best over the past 8 months so I’m ready for Colorado to show me the season it’s known for. I’m getting ready by also updating our home to reflect the changing of colors outside.

First, let’s chat home layout.

We have a very open concept main floor with living, dining and kitchen all attached. That is opened up to our front door and then stairs to our basement and upper level. It’s a space that I’ve tried to decorate the most since we spend most of the time in it. The colors and styles need to feel cohesive yet I don’t love changing things more than a few times a year so I try and use as much of my typical decor as possible.

Now this corner has been a little empty for awhile I knew I needed some height to fill this corner but art work just felt weird so I love this faux olive tree I found from Amazon. It gives the area some height but doesn’t block the view out the window.

For fall I switched out the throw pillow and added a darker more chunky throw but everything else stayed pretty much the same as what I keep year round. Now I KNOW I’m going to get questions on this chair because I always do! It is actually the nursing chair I had custom made back when my daughter was a baby 11 years ago. It’s a rocker and recliner and as you can see has stood the test of time. I’ll link similar but this exact one hold so many memories.

On the dining side of our great room I decided to add in a little green with the linens. I typically don’t go for green but I found this new runner and napkins while at Target getting sucked in to the fall decor and thought let’s give it a try! I use these rattan chargers and Pottery Barn placemats nearly all year but then add in seasonal colors with the runner and napkins to keep the cost down.

The real show stopper though was this leaf arrangement that came with the vase and leaves. This is the 25″ but since it was such a steal it’s already sold out! This why I buy my decor EARLY!! But there are a ton of great steams out there where you can recreate this same look.

The final area I added a few fall touches to is our entryway table. This is right off our front door so lots of packages and junk accumulates here so I added the 3 BIG baskets to try and hide the stuff. I’m a huge fan of the Capri Blue Pumpkin Dulce candle as soon as fall hits I switch my home to that warm and inviting scent. I kept the olive branches just to balance out all the rest of the fall hues but snagged a leaf off one of my arrangements to add to this pretty gold frame.

So that’s it! I’ve never been a big Halloween fan so I keep to this neutral fall palette for a few months until it’s time to put up Christmas decor. I did add a few more fall touches to our upstairs sitting area and hallway table but not much, again I try and keep it pretty easy and spend my time on more important things like making pumpkin bread!

Happy Fall Y’all
