The presents have been unwrapped, the stockings taken down, family on the way back home and I go into CLEAN UP mode! As much as my husband always tries to plead with me to wait until after New Years I like to get Christmas packed away by then.
If you are in cleaning, organizing and taking down holiday decor mode too then check out some of my favorite items to keep it all organized, safe & secure for next year.

2-in-1 Christmas Ornament & Figurine Storage Box | Tunic
Fit Tips: true to size, L
My first step that always seem to take the longest is pulling off all the ornaments. While we have a lot of plastic “unbreakable” kinds we also have some that are very fragile and have sentimental value.
Recently I found this tiered ornament and figurine box. It has 5 individual trays for ornaments and side sections great for my glass trees. I will still wrap each glass figurine item with bubble wrap prior to putting on the sides just because our boxes can get moved around in the garage through the year.

It’s a pretty big size so make sure that you leave some room in your storage area for this one but it hold so much and even has side pockets for more. I like to store extra ornament hangers there so everything is all together when we are putting the ornaments back on the next year.

Nutcrackers
Next is taking down the nutcrackers. While it’s always a sad time I love spending a few moments looking at them again and then also checking that if we have purchased any new Nutcrackers that they have the date and location purchased for this year.

I have to mention we have two of these boxes from The Container Store but since we are still adding to our collection we needed a new box to house some of our new additions. I found at the end of last year that TCS was sold out by the time I was getting around to storing items so I found a similar box on Amazon.

Holiday Wrapping Paper & Supplies
While some of my paper I will keep out for the year since it can pass for holiday or any celebration most needs a secure place to live in a closet or under the bed for the next 11 months. This fabric box gold both the regular and long styles of wrapping paper long with clear pockets for gift tags and stickers.
It also has a removable velcro partition so you can add in your tape, ribbon etc at the top of the shorter rolls. I’m not going to lie, this is my 2nd one of these! I love having a variety of wrapping paper and wanted to finally organize kid paper separate from adult so I felt the need for two.

These do fit nicely under a typical bed frame. I keep ours under our guest bed for most of the year.

The Tree
Now that we have several faux trees I forgot about the storage!! The first year I tried to shove our tree back in the box it came in and ya’ll it was a BAD decision. It didn’t fit, I couldn’t get the thing closed and I was covered in flocking.
Then I found this heavy duty tree bag with rollers so that I can get the tree in and into the garage with way less hassle. Now getting it to the high shelf that my husband thinks it should be stored on, that’s another subject.

9ft prelit Christmas Tree | Rolling Bag Storage for up to 9ft tree | up to 7ft tree Bag

Wreaths
One of the last items to come down are the wreaths. Now again honesty, I’ve been shoving my wreaths into a box and while they “kinda” fit I had to clamp down and push all the foliage inside making it harder and harder to fluff the next year and make look pretty. I figured there was probably a better solution for my fuller holiday wreath and I found these bags online.
Affordable, with handles and I can label what’s inside it has been a perfect solution to my bushy wreath issue.

Cards & Sentimental Photos
If you send me a holiday card please go ahead and skip to the next line…. ok it’s just us. The cards that we receive from friends and family we toss each year. While I give them their shining moment displayed through the season when the New Year bell is ringing all those cards get tossed.

Although we have been doing family holiday cards before Miss A was even born for a long time I was keeping them just in a plastic bag knowing that some day I’m going to lose all of these and would be devastated. Finally I grabbed this card keeping box. That way I keep our extra holiday cards and Santa pics all in one place at the end of each season.

I hope you had a wonderful and magical holiday. I will be cleaning up and doing some MASSIVE organization over the next week while I also figure out where the heck all these new kid toys go. If you need some toy organization help check out this post from last year when I updated our playroom organization.
Happy (almost) 2022!
