As the holidays wind down around here we go into birthday mode. My mom’s birthday is January 1st, my son’s is January 22nd and mine is January 26th. So we have a lot of love for January, but it’s that time of the year in Texas where you might have some days of hints of Spring but most of the time you need a sweater. I rounded up some of my favorites that I’ll be sporting for the rest of the month since there is a lot of celebrating we still have to do.
Cardigan // Tee // Jeans (similar) // Shoes
This long cardigan I ordered because my friend Mandi had the fall color Madewell one and every time I saw her I thought man I need one of those sweaters! Well of course I was too late and honestly it was just a little more than I wanted to spend. When I saw this Caslon one for $69 I thought ok let me give it a try! It is thicker and has a good weight to it to cuddle up during the cold months. Also it comes in a bunch of colors and even some super fun stripes.
Fit Tips: I feel like it’s true to size for an oversized cardigan, if you want a more fitted look size down. I’m in a medium. Jeans are an old style of Paige Huxton crop that I can’t find anymore but I found an expensive pair that looks similar. Tee- tts, shoes- tts
Sweater // Vest // Jeans // Boots
Now as soon as I got this plaid vest in I knew I needed a fun pink sweater to go with it. Luckily I was in Old Navy with my daughter and that girl can hunt down pink like nobody’s business. I like that this one is a bit longer but not a tunic length. This cute vest just finally restocked in all sizes and if goes as fast as the first time it was in stock I would grab it now!
Since we have not gotten any snow this season my Hunter rain boots have been my go to because we have been getting a good amount of cold, wet weather. Last week when it rained I pulled out my new umbrella that I got for Christmas and OMG it is amazing. I know only a mom would get pumped about an umbrella but the ShedRain umbrella is so easy to open but also it catches all the rain inside it when you are headed in your car or inside so you don’t make a big mess. Needless to say I love the one that has the pink underside that matches my sweater and vest… man I love pink!
Fit Tips: Vest runs a little tight but I did not want to size up with the fear that it would be too loose, if you want to have a few thicker layers I would size up I’m wearing a medium. The sweater is tts and I’m in a medium. Jeans are my favorite Wit & Wisdom with the interior stretchy waistband so size down if you are in-between, stick to your true size if you are still carrying a few extra holiday lbs like I am!
Sweater // Jeans // Booties
When I was in Aerie I was checking out their sweater and when I ran my hand across this one I stopped in my tracks. It’s hard to describe the feeling because it’s like chenille but squishier? What ever you want to call it is beyond cozy, comfy and soft. Since it does have a more open weave when it was cold and windy I needed a tee underneath so my belly didn’t freeze! When I first posted about this outfit I was dying to just lay on the couch and binge watch the rest of the Netflix thriller YOU that my friend got me hooked on. It may look like I’m wearing real jeans these are the pull-on style with a stretchy waistband so I can go immediately from dinner, kick off my booties slip on my Ugg slippers grab my favorite cozy blanket and relax!
Fit Tips: Sweater is oversized and tunic length, I’m in a medium which is true to size. Jeggings fit true to size and I’m in a 10 short, booties are also true to size.
Cardigan // Stripe tee (similar black) // Leggings // Boots
I got my Barefoot Dreams cardigan about two years ago and in that time I have tried on several styles and keep coming back to this circle style. It is long enough to cover the booty but not too oversized where it looks only like loungewear. Recently they added two new colors to the line up- burgundy and light pink and I’m in love! Both are great for January and February and will match a ton. I also love this style because it’s easy to throw on a tee shirt, leggings and I can go from picking up kids at school to lounging at home.
Fit Tips: Cardigan fits true to size but does run a bit tight in the arms so if that is an area that is tight already then size up, I’m in a medium. The leggings are a slimming style so they are already sucking things in so I size up to a large. Boots are true to size. Both linked tees are more fitted so size up if you want a looser feel.
A few other things are coming up as well this week, I will be celebrating six months of this blog and one year since a tumor was found pressing on my optic nerve but more to come on those stories! Have a wonderful Monday and great week!
