Starting in January I started getting the itch to update our living room, really it all stemmed from my husband buying a larger TV during Black Friday. After that it felt like we needed a new media table and then the ball was rolling! In April I did a post (see it here) where I planned out the space, what we already had and what we were still deciding on.
Then I put in my order and waited… and waited.
If you have heard anything about supply and demand in the past year then you are fully aware that basically everything is taking longer than normal, furniture included. A couple weeks ago we got in the final piece to the puzzle and I couldn’t wait to share the final result.

Radley 5 Piece Sectional Couch | Rug 9×12 | Malcom Coffee Table 60″ | Belgian Linen Pillow Cover | Cozy Fleece Pillow Covers | Damia Handwoven Textured Pillow Cover | Woven Circular Serve Tray with Handles | Boston Fern Plant | Similar Wood Decorative Art | Studio McGee Artificial Fern | Malcom Console Bookcase | Black Wagon Wheel Chandelier | Stripe Curtains
We previously had a darker more L shaped sectional and after much deliberation we went with the Radely 5 piece sectional couch in Chrome Beige. I went back and forth with the more expensive PB version but realized we still have pretty young kids and many more years of spills so we went with the cheaper option.
The other long debate was the coffee table. I bought one from Target to try out and it was horrible! I ended up with the smaller rectangle matching to the rest of our new Malcom tables. Although when it arrived it felt REALLY big for the space and sort of fell off the rug so we ended up getting a larger area rug and we love it now.

Malika Persian-Style Hand Tufted Wool Rug 9 x 12 | Nordstrom Tunic (need L) | Zella Leggings (L) | Wine Glass
The funny thing about this area rug is I thought I was buying the exact style we previously had but instead it’s lighter and more blue. It instantly brightened up the space and it’s SOFTER! The tones of khaki, camel and blues work so well with our existing drapes and artwork. I will say though I’m annoyed that I paid full price and now it’s 50% off. So if you are looking for a high quality rug grab it at a great price.

Out to Sea Framed Canvas, Sage | Woven Tray | Large Glass Vase | Faux Hazel Leaf Stem
Wall color: Sherwin Williams Perfect Greige
The piece of art above the mantel is also a new addition. We previously had a small rectangle piece that I never really loved and wanted something bigger to bring your eye up our very high ceilings.
The stone candle pillars I’ve had forever and honestly I don’t even remember where I bought them but the glass vase is from Target and looks great with some green steams. As we move into fall I know I can easily switch those with some pampas grass to bring back in some of the warm tones.

Belgian Linen Pillow Cover | Cozy Fleece Pillow Covers (limited time sale)| Amazon Inserts 26″
Now in our house we have BIG debates on throw pillows. I have a very opinionated husband that believes couch pillows should be the softest, coziest pillow possible to lay on. He hates feathers (they poke him in the head, please insert eye roll) and doesn’t understand why I hate a flat looking pillow.
I went thorough about 6 options of pillows, various brands, colors, price points and finally I landed on this combo of Belgian linen and cozy fleece. This way we are both happy!
Since he got his cozy pillow I got my down inserts to make them look pretty. I will say though DON’T buy the Pottery Barn inserts. They are super expensive and I felt like we got more loose feathers with them. For about half the price we got the Amazon inserts and love them.

Woven Tray | Fern | Marble Coasters | Similar Mercury Glass Candle | Coffee Table
In my original plan I had an indoor/ outdoor woven tray from Target Studio McGee when I ordered it I had no idea that it was HUGE! I ended up returning and finding this perfect sized one at Target as well. I also had planned on a white vase from Pottery Barn and I did order it… it’s been on backorder since April! I ended up grabbing this fern from another room and actually love how it plays off all the other bright green faux plants.

I always get questions on our paint color as well. About 3 years ago we repainted almost our entire house in Sherwin Williams Perfect Greige in a cashmere finish. Since this room has a ton of natural light it tends to lean more grey than tan which was been perfect for our decor.

Digital Clock Large Display | Malcolm 66″ Media Console | Wood Bowl | Michael Aram Gold Frame
When we put in the new media console I accidentally broke the clock that used to sit in our old cabinet and after about a day of looking that direction to figure out that time it was I had to grab a new clock. Now while this one at full light is pretty bright I LOVE that I can see it all the way from the kitchen. When we want something more subdued you can dim it and it looks like a mirror.
The small potted plant is also faux from a small boutique in the area and just loved the real look to it. I’ve never been able to find one similar online so if I do I’ll let you know.

Boston Fern Plant | Similar Wood Decorative Art | Studio McGee Artificial Fern | Malcom Console Bookcase | Decorative Round Rattan Basket | Artificial Moss Wood Plant Arrangement
This console bookcase was also a new addition. Our previous console table was a dark espresso wood and although it was in decent shape still we wanted to bring in some lighter wood pieces. I love the texture to this and it’s longer so more room for baskets and accessories.
These smaller baskets I grabbed years ago at Hobby Lobby and they fit like one blanket so getting a larger size basket is still on my shopping list.

Decorative Round Rattan Basket
The style basket we love is this from Target! We have both the smaller (by the fireplace) size that is the dumping area for toys in the living room and then this “shoe” basket. Years ago I was so tired of looking all over the house for the kids shoes so we made one place where their most worn shoes go, this basket!
Recently I had to upgrade to this larger size because the kids feet keep growing and I didn’t have room for their bigger shoes. This 18×18 is plenty big now and I love the substantial feel to this basket.

Now when I walk into this room I love how it looks. The lighter wood accent tables and couch has really brightened the entire area. I will say though I was a little nervous going this light of a couch with a 6 year old boy and of course with in the first few weeks we already have had some spills but they cleaned up pretty easily so I’m happy.

When I chat about relaxing or Netflix binging just know it’s going down right here, specifically that corner section of the couch is the mama throne!
Hope you loved this little home tour, now if I can just convince my husband to do the dining room.
