Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2022 | How it all FIT

Each year I try and do my best to put together outfits for fall. This way you can look through your closet and check to see what you already have but also some NEW items from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale that can add to your wardrobe.

This week I headed to my local store to try and pickup and try-on much of the items I had shown you in my outfit inspiration boards. While I try and find as many things in store as possible some come a bit later so I will continue to update this post as I receive items for fit tips and honest feedback on fabric and styles.

With these outfits I was able to get about half of them put together because in store they did not have the Madewell cardigan or many of the bags. Instead I found a few more cozy top options but the JEANS are where it’s at! So happy to see a ton of Good American styles and fell in love with many of them.

Here again were my outfit inspirations:

Sweater | Jeans | Booties

Fit tips: Turtle neck top tts, L // Wit and wisdom itty bitty boot cut jeans size down, 10 // Booties size up 1/2 size

This might be my favorite outfit of the entire sale! The sweater is not too thick or clingy, the jeans are comfortable and the booties have a easy to walk in lower heel.

I see myself wearing this a ton come cooler weather. The jeans in the past were hard to snag come public access but I see this sweater sticking around.

BP Brynne Bootie // size up 1/2

This chestnut color is a great lighter cognac option with a 3″ black heel making them comfortable to walk in. Now if you need something with an even smaller heel these looked similar with a 2″ heel.

Dress | Similar Booties

Fit Tip: Dress tts, L (does run a bit short) // Last season booties by same brand tts

Now this dress I was so excited to try in person! I love the ruffle skirt and elastic waistband but this one just wasn’t worth the money for me. It runs pretty short and these was something not fully elastic about the waistband so this is going back.

I didn’t pick up the booties in the sale either since I have a very similar pair from the same brand I’m wearing here.

Cardigan | Cami | Jeans | Booties | Necklace

Fit Tips: Cardigan size down, M // Cami runs tight in chest, L // Jeans size up, 14 // Booties size up 1/2

Cardigan | Cami | Jeans | Booties | Necklace

Fit Tips: Cardigan size down, M // Cami runs tight in chest, L // Jeans tts, 12 // Booties size up 1/2

Ah the infamous Madewell cardigan… every year I hear so much grief that this sweater has sold out. So I will forewarn you these tend to be popular and sell out prior to public access. The upside is there are two cute color combos this year and since the 2nd color combo is not in stores there is a chance it will be around.

When you see “dupes” on Amazon PLEASE know that many of their images are stolen influencer pics of the Madewell sweater and not of their product. That is why I normally wait until about late September and check out Target, in the past they have had something similar. With that all said it’s a great sweater, super soft and snuggly.

The jeans are KUT Donna high waist and while they fit great I have so many other skinny jeans I love I think these will be going back.

Cardigan | Cami | Jeans | Booties | Necklace

Fit Tips: Cardigan size down, M // Cami tts, L // Jeans tts, 12 // Booties size up 1/2

I thought I would scope out an alternative striped cardigan in the thought that the Madewell one will sell out but y’all this one feels HORRIBLE!! It’s scratchy, I don’t love the colors and it’s way overpriced. This will be going back.

Now I tried to recreate outfit number one but the sweater is on order and when I put on the Good American jeans I thought I was going to CRY they are too small! I measured them up against another size 12 from a past season (same style) and they are about an inch smaller in the waist. So I’ll be ordering the 14 and waiting for the sweater to arrive.

Although I will say this boatneck super cozy style I would for under $30 is amazing! It reminds me a ton of the Gibsonlook styles from last year and they come in 4 great fall neutrals so snag the sweater in your true size.

I promised you all some price conscious shopping and I have your BACK! I styled this for under $150 and then fell even more in love when I tried it all on! The sweater is more oversized fit making it great with jeans or leggings. The booties are affordable but match a ton and the jeans are awesome. One thing I added that was not in budget is the Kendra Scott necklace but I just love the look.

Sweater | Jeans | Booties | Necklace

Fit Tips: Sweater tts for an oversized fit, L // Jeans size down, 10 // Booties size up 1/2

Sweater | Jeans | Flats | Purse

Fit Tips: Sweater runs oversized, L // Jeans size up if in-between, 12 // Flats size up 1/2

Jacket | Jeans

Fit Tips: Jacket tts, L // Jeans size up if in-between, 12

In store there was a few of these options but I have more on the way. I was happy to see a few more affordable work options in store and a TON of blazers this year. I’ve mostly stuck with tried and true styles that I love and feel that they are worth your money to grab now.

Here again were my outfit inspirations:

Dress | Blazer | Similar Shoes | Necklace | Earrings

Fit Tips: Dress True to size, 12 | Blazer true to size, L/3

I had hopes that this dress would be good and honestly it’s even better in person! The flow of the skirt, colors and fit are all spot on. I fee like it’s a great workwear option but also would make a STUNNING fall family photo dress. The waist has an elastic ruching so very comfortable and modest v-neck.

The blazer has a full body tie so you can really have this outfit look 3 different ways when you then close the blazer. I also tried this blazer with the dress but the colors are slightly off and the blazer is VERY oversized.

Camisole | Trousers | Blazer | Similar Shoes | Necklace | Earrings | Bracelet

Fit Tips: Halogen lace cami runs tight across the chest size up if larger chested, L // NYDJ Trouser pant, TTS 12 P

Blouse | Trousers | Shoes | Necklace | Earrings | Bracelet

Fit Tips: NYDJ blouse TTS, L // Wit and wisdom trousers, 12 (I did not like the fit of the 12 petite) // Steve Madden mules size up 1/2 size

This outfit I’m still not in love with, while I like each piece the tunic is a bit too long for these pants and the mules I’m still trying to see if they are a love or hate for me.

The pants were another thing that there me off. The size 12 on the left fit great but were a bit longer than I thought I wanted but when I tried on the 12 petite they were higher rise, loose and only slightly shorter. I have no idea if they are different seasons or what happened so if you don’t love your first pair you might try and exchange.

Tank | Blazer | Jeans | Necklace | Earrings | Bracelet

Fit Tips: Tank tts, L // Blazer size down if in-between in L but could use M // Jeans size down, 10

Funny enough I feel like I shared a VERY similar outfit last year but y’all loved it too so the Caslon knit blazer is BACK! I love these for a casual workwear option since they are lighter than a typical blazer, stretchy and come in a ton of colors. While I’ve seen these drop in price after the sale (typically around October) if you are looking for some easy to wear work pieces now it’s worth grabbing.

Blouse | Blazer | Jeans | Necklace | Earrings | Bracelet

Fit Tips: Caslon knit blazer size down if in between, L // Wit and Wisdom itty bitty boot cut jeans size down, 10 // Halogen top TTS, L

I understand this is basically the same look but wanted to show you that the long sleeve wrap also pairs beautifully with this jacket but has a bit more olive in it also making it perfect with the Madewell sweater so tons of mixing and matching options.

Dress | Shoes

Fit Tips: Dress runs small need 14

Ted Baker Pumps

Fit Tips: Size up 1/2 to a full size these run small

Fit Tips: true to size

This is where I got into trouble, basically nothing I wanted was in stock. While I did find the Sweaty Beatty leggings and sweater I didn’t end up loving how the sweater felt. The Zella hoodie is sooo soft and amazing but I wanted to wait to get the entire outfit together. The Zella jumpsuit and track jacket were also a need to ship situation so at the end of the day I got shoes!

Here again were my outfit inspirations:

Zella Top | Leggings | Hoodie

Fit Tips: Tee tts, L // Leggings tts, L but run long // Hoodie tts, L

Nike Flyknit Phantom Sneakers (left older color combo) | Right NSALE version

In the past I have always sized up 1/2 in this style sneaker and then when I slipped these on they were so big! Looks like they have resized and now they are larger so no need to size up.

Adidas UltraBoost DNA Running Shoe

Fit Tips: true to size

I loved my Adidas last year and while I was about to snag these I thought ok maybe wait seeing that I already have several sneakers. I still love this style and might still snag them if I find some outfits to match.

Cloudswift Running Shoe

Fit Tips: size up if in-between

Last year was the first time that ON sneakers were on sale and they went like wildfire! This year there are a few styles but the Cloudswift has always been my favorite. Truth be told I had the grey pair but ruined them at a Spartan Race (the red dirt never came back out) so I figured it was fate that they bought these to the sale this year! These still run slightly small but not nearly as narrow as the Cloudflow.

Let’s be real I’ve added comfy and cozy to also stocking up on staples like bras, undies socks and slippers!! Last year I got to the end of the year and had worn my Minnetonka slippers so much that I put a hole through the toe! I was on the hunt to replace those but I’m not a huge fan of the open back styles that are in this year’s sale and I’m not the biggest fan of the new plaid that Minnetonka has.

Here again were my outfit inspirations:

Barefoot Dreams Cabin Cardigan | Tank | Joggers

Fit Tips: Cardigan tts, L // Tank size down, M // Joggers tts, L

I have loved my barefoot Dreams circle cardigan for YEARS but this longer style caught my eye. The fabric and feel is exactly like the circle BUT it’s not tight in the arms! I love the cozy feel of this and worth every penny in my books. Paired with a Caslon tank (not in the sale) and the Zella joggers this is my kind of work from home outfit.

Red Carpet Strapless Bra

Fits true to size

I’m going to tell you now buy this bra. I get sooo many questions on the best strapless bra for a larger chest and ya’ll it’s this one. It’s hardly ever on sale at Soma so snag it while it is discounted.

True & Co Bras

Fit Tips: all run true to size, L

True Body Lift Full V-Neck Bralette | Triangle Adjustable Strap Full Cup Soft Form Band Bra

True Body V-Neck Bralette | True Body Triangle Lace Racerback Bralette

For years I thought True & Co had like two styles and as a DD cup many times I would spill over until I tried some new styles last year and was so happy! The top row is designed for a larger cup size and the bottom row are best for smaller (even though I wear them as well). They are not too tight on the ribcage and give a light to medium support I love these for lounge days and travel.
