This poem was inspired by the stealing of our Holiballs (Christmas decor) early this season and the crazy TIKTOK challenges going around. This is for all the moms working so hard to make the season magical, I see you. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house,
not a creature was stirring expect for my mouse.
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
with hopes that Amazon packages soon would be there.
The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of PS5s danced in their heads.
Mama in her Soma, and Dad in his kicks
had just settled down to watch some more Netflix.
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
that I turned on the Ring to see what was the matter.
Away to my phone I flew like a flash,
tore open the app and pulled up my dash (board).
The camera showed shadows like new fallen snow,
and changing the angle gave nothing to know.
Then what to my wandering eyes should appear,
but a bunch of teens stealing Holiballs and deer.
With a lookout driver not lively or quick,
I knew in a moment his rear I would kick.
More rapid than than eagles my ideas they came,
I whistled and shouted and called them by name.
Now Charli, Now Loren, now Addison and Chad
A TIKTOK challenge?! Why are you being so bad?
Come to my porch, try not to fall,
I’ll give you a lesson, then your mom you will call.
This challenge stuff in my hood will not fly,
I said to them all, then started to sigh.
You were little once and loved Santa Claus,
can you find a moment to reflect and pause.
This time of year moms give it their all,
to make magic appear since you were small.
We make cookies, wrap presents, throw parties and more,
In hopes that on Christmas your little hearts soar.
They spoke not a word, but went straight to their work,
And fixed all the decor; then said sorry for being a jerk,
And laying their fingers aside of their phone
They all called their moms and gave the love they should have shown.
As I tended my display, they headed to the car,
And away they all drove, they didn’t have far.
But I heard them exclaim, as they drove out of sight,
Merry Christmas to moms, thanks for putting us right!
