As I mentioned in my previous post on Back To School: K-4 I completely understand that not everyone is able or comfortable to send their kids back to a classroom this fall. From what I’ve heard recently areas of California are starting online with a phase into in person at a later date. Therefore I’m preparing for both heading to school and the possibility that distance learning will happen again this school year.
Now it would take me a month to round up learning resources, books and curriculum (and I am FOR SURE not the expert in those areas) what I can share are thing in our home that helped facilitate distance learning. These are items that I was so happy that we had stocked when school shut down in March.

TOP ROW:
Hi-Write Beginner Paper My son will be starting Kindergarten this fall and much of Pre-K and Kinder is practicing writing letters and CVC words. This paper pack has the thicker lines and highlighted areas perfect for that early reader/ writer.
Kids Headphones with Microphone Over-Ear/On-Ear // Wireless Version Now I can’t tell you how many times I heard my kids say I can’t hear my iPad brothers/ sisters is too loud!! These kids headphone with microphone is a must have in our house to keep the bickering away. These are also great if your kiddo will be doing zoom/ video learning since they have a microphone built in.
Wide Ruled Composition Notebook My daughter typically has these in school for each subject that she works on so I figured might as well bring the system home. Get multiple colors to keep track of math/ science / social studies etc.
OttLite A30009-FFP Creative Curves LED My MIL suggested this light because she is a quilter and said it’s one of the best desk lamps out there, she was RIGHT! It has a very clear LED light, can adjust 4 levels and turns on with a touch. This sits on my daughter’s desk and is perfect.
HP OfficeJet 3830 All-in-One Wireless Printer Now this printer is not the end all be all printer but it has a ton of features at a great price. Matched with over 11k 4 star ratings it allows you to print from your phone in color and black and white.
MIDDLE ROW:
Learning Resources Mathlink Cubes These cubes are soo useful! I loved having them for my younger son and my daughter learning multiplication concepts. They can be so versatile for many ages and snap together in 10 sticks.
Boogie Board 8.5 LCD Writing Tablet Now we got these LED tablets when the kids were young to doodle and take on trips. When we were doing distance learning they were so helpful for spelling words and math problems without wasting a ton on paper.
Desktop Portable Mini White Board 10″x 10″ I have another folding version of a white board but honestly it’s not worth a flip and it’s more expensive than this one! This is double sided, lightweight and can be propped up to display a lesson.
Acer Chromebook R 11 Convertible, 11.6-Inch HD Touch This is the exact model my daughter received for Christmas. It is one of the more expensive Chrombooks on the market but what we realized is so many learning games switch between wanting a computer interface and touch screen that this was perfect! It allowed her to have all her google classroom capabilities, parent control on when it’s on and touch screen. If you are in the market I highly suggest this model.
Poppin Magazine Holder We have these colorful magazine holders on the top of our 3-tier rolling cart. I like that you can see the entire book and I can separate kids resources by their holder color.
Bostitch QuietSharp Executive Electric Pencil Sharpener Oh man did we need a good pencil sharpener! If you are going to be doing any writing at home save your sanity and get a good pencil sharpener.
Rotating Round Desktop Organizer With kids several grades apart I need pencils, markers, crayons, glue, scissors, dice and paintbrushes available so this spinning clear holder is perfect.
BOTTOM ROW:
Scotch Brand Pro Thermal Laminator I have had this laminator for YEARS and in spring I probably used it more than any other time in my life! It was a lifesaver for printouts that I didn’t want to have to print daily. Practicing writing on a laminated copy, CVC words you name it.
EXPO Low Odor Dry Erase Markers If you have a white board or laminated sheets just go ahead and pick up a big pack of dry erase markers now.
TICONDEROGA Pencils Pre-Sharpened with Eraser Best pencils hands down and save your sanity with getting the pre-sharpened.
Elfa Mesh Component Desk with Rounded Edge I have a similar desk in my office and LOVE it! It’s a great size and the Elfa storage on the side holds a ton. Now if you are looking forsomethingo that can fit in a bedroom or smaller space my daughter has this one and it’s great.
Weathertight Portable File To Black The place to hold all the assignments for the end of the year.
White 3-Tier Rolling Cart This cart has saved my sanity! We had workbooks and resources all over the kitchen until I found this genus little cart to hold it all. Plus it can roll around to any part of the house that we need it in.
