It’s official I waited until September to pull out my fall decor! Ok ok I started putting up a few things but honestly I don’t like to go overboard in early September anyway. Typically I start to transition our home with neutral decor that allows me to add in pumpkins and more seasonal items as it gets later. Since I’ll still be adding items I figured I would show you both some inspiration boards and some of the updates to our home.
If you want to see the “before” of our living room check out this post where I have brighter green foliage. We also have been doing a BUNCH of outdoor updates like tree trimming, new light fixtures and eventually landscaping. It was a good time since we have to replace our grass after the pool was finished.
I’m hopeful to have most everything done by the holidays so maybe I’ll be back with holiday home reveal!
We have a very narrow doorstep so it’a hard to add a ton of decor but a layered mat and some lanterns fit perfectly. In later September we have hired a local company to bring and set up some pumpkins but to really have that full look down our steps I’m grabbing some of these faux neutral pumpkins from Pottery Barn.
I love that there are a bunch of sizes and colors to choose from but I’m grabbing white and green Cinderella styles. I’m also considering in our landscaping an area for urns and while I love some summer flowers in the fall and winter months I’m considering these faux cedar trees to add some height around the doorway.
I also picked out this new outdoor chandelier and can’t wait for the led lights that are supposed to flicker like real candles giving that gas light effect!

This is where I went a little crazy this season! I felt like with our new couch and pillows I wanted some more neutral fall decor and Target has some adorable new arrivals. As I started placing things though it looked kinda stark. The metal ball was a bit bigger than I had planned and I could never find the terra-cotta candle (plus I LOVE the smell of this Magnolia one so it’s on repeat in my house).
The plaid throw was super staticky when it arrived so I washed and dried and it pilled up quite a bit so I’m going to have to sweater shave that. I LOVE how full and natural the rubber plant looks but the berry plant is a little sparse. I ended up moving it from our console table to an alcove in the house and it’s much better.
The final items were switching out the plant on my mantle and while the yellow faux steams are old the Terra Cotta vase from Pottery Barn I waited MONTHS for it to arrive and I love it.

After I had this up for a bit my Target pumpkins came in and switched the metal ball for pumping and the PB Fall Candle.

Ultimately I still want to move those lanterns I just don’t know where yet and I need some more color on my tray but I’m loving how the yellow adds some fall pop to the room. I most likely will grab this candle from PB not only because Harvest Spice sounded good but I love the color of the glass.
These faux leaves are an old Target find but the new Gingko Stem I think would give a great look and pop of yellow as well. They also have a version at Pottery Barn that has a touch of red in them as well.

Throughout the kitchen and house I also add some little fall touches like this Artificial Hopps arrangement and LOTS of new fall scents. Recently we got a few of the Pura Scent Diffusers and I LOVE that I can quickly change the scent and intensity on my phone.
They have some new scents out but the devices are still on backorder (chip shortage) use code RYANNEJANCA9472 for 15% off your purchase.
The other items I start to pull out are fall scented hand soap and lotions. I have loved the pumpkin spice scent from Williams Sonoma for years and new in they have GOLD pumps which really transforms this set.

My table setting is very similar to last year because honestly I love it and don’t think you need to re-do decor every year. I used the skinny black candlestick holders I got this spring as an update and my new squared base wine glasses.
As the season progresses I will add in white and green small pumpkins AND my biggest trick is grabbing some wood floral picks at a craft store, snipping the bottoms and layering them in. Typically we will also let the kids get small pumpkins through the season and most of them end up on the table too.
