Mother’s Day Ideas for the Active Mom

It was about 4 years ago when I had a 2 and 5 year old that my husband woke me up for Mother’s Day and basically said, yeah I haven’t really planned anything and I got you a card. To say that I was annoyed is putting it lightly. Hadn’t I been working full time, doing a ton of the caregiving, cooking and cleaning?! I should be pampered and waited upon for Mother’s Day. Then I said fine, “I’m spending the day outside, BY MYSELF!”

I spent most of the day outside in the beautiful spring Texas weather and it was wonderful. He ended up doing some clean up in our backyard to make it nice for me and I love seeing the kids run around. I still look back at that day and it was perfect. I’ve gotten better on being VERY specific with my husband on holiday expectations and that includes lists.

Luckily there are so many things that I want from Academy, which my husband ALREADY loves shopping at. You might think they only have camping stuff but NO! They have fitness, outdoors, sporting, cute clothes I mean honestly my list kept growing longer and longer. I also love that they have easy 2 hour curbside pickup or you can get free shipping on $25+ when you make a free account.

I’m going to give you a rundown of a fun Mother’s Day that incorporates getting outside AND all the fun gifts you can get mom along the way.

First let’s chat about sports with the kids! We recently got a basketball hoop in our driveway and it’s so much fun. I never really played when I was little so let’s just say I’m perfecting my shot still. I love this workout outfit from Freely an Academy in-house brand for the fun colors and great fit. Plus with a side pocket I can be outside playing some hoops but also know where my phone is.

When we got the basketball hoop both kids got their own fun colored balls so for Mother’s Day pick up a fun colored ball for mom! Let’s just say my shot still needs some work lol!

Plus some new sneakers while you are at it. I have so many runner friends that swear by Brooks and I REALLY wanted the new Brooks Women’s Trace Running Shoes because hello hot pink, but I also love these that I grabbed with grey and blue.

Next up on my momgenda would be a fun bike ride with the kids. We are lucky to have a great bike path in our neighborhood but recently I noticed that my husband has all the good Camelback water bottles that fit well on my bike so another great idea… fun colored water bottle! Plus I loved this QALO silicone ring for workouts and biking. Especially when it starts to get hot my fingers swell and these are so much more comfortable.

Ok so let’s be real an AMAZING Mother’s Day present also includes a massage but I’ll do you one better. Grab mom a Theragun so she can do a massage ANYTIME she wants! We got this magic device at Christmas and percussive device helps get rid of muscle tension and relieve pain.

We have the Elite version that comes with several heads, a case and app guided preset routines but to be honest she’s gonna love any version you pick up.

Then let’s end the day enjoying our backyard! I changed into a comfy tee from Simply Southern and these stretchy lightweight shorts, grabbed a drink and I’m ready to chill. Now since we are building a pool this summer my mind is on EVERYTHING outdoor fun.

I have several friends that love their Solostove and this portable pizza oven looked amazing but at the end of the day I’ll even take a pineapple pool float, just don’t make me blow it up!

If you are a fur mama too then you might pick up this Yeti dog bowl from your fur baby perfect for those hot summer days and keeping water cool. My fur baby (in heaven) Bailey loved his and I still keep it around because it reminds me of him.

That’s my idea of a perfect Mother’s Day! As I mentioned though I’m not leaving you without a full list you can go forward over to your significant other because you know once they get on Academy.com it’s all “I forgot what I was looking for!”
