Winter Workwear Capsule

It’s here!! I’ve had so many requests for another workwear capsule and this time I’m sharing great pieces that can work now and into spring. I like waiting for a winter capsule until after the holidays because in stores you can see the upcoming shades and weave those colors into what you are wearing now.

Again this season I’m giving you the core items and outfits in this post but I have a VIP email subscribers list that will receive sale alerts, various price point options and even more styled outfits.

So let’s get started!!

THE COLORS

The first step is always looking up the Pantone colors of the season. These are released twice a year and gives me a great insight on the color palette I will start to see retailers use in the upcoming season. This also gives me a chance to look in my closet and see do I have pieces that are “close enough”.

While the spring colors have a lot of vibrant pinks and oranges I wanted the winter capsule to play off the core classics of grey lilac, vanilla cream and macchiato. Then as the weather warms up you can shed the coats and add a few pops of color as we progress into early spring.

I’m 5’5, size 12 with 36/38DD chest. TTS is short for true to size based on size guides and other items from that brand.

THE OUTFITS

Now this is the BEST PART because while you might see many capsules hardly anyone actually buys it all and tries it on, but I do! This way you can see each piece, how it fits how the colors actually look together! Plus it gives you an image you can come back to when you are looking in your closet thinking.. “WHAT should I wear?!”

To make it as easy as possible I’m organizing these by “tops” but I will be showing even more variations for my email subscribers. FOR FREE, yes friends other accounts charge $100+ for seasonal capsules but being on my list costs nothing, you just have to open up the goodness.

PINK SWEATER

I chose this pink sweater because it has a good weight to it and loved that it could be styled a few different ways. Since it’s a tunic length it looks best untucked with straight leg pants or tucked up when pairing with wider leg pants. This runs really large so I’m in a medium in the pink color which is more pink in person than online.

PRINTED BLOUSE

This blouse was a great find from Amazon! I love the combination of pink, khaki and hot pink. Going into spring it will be easy to switch out the khaki or black and add a fun bright pink blazer. It has a longer rounded hem and runs true to size, I’m in a L.

TIE BLOUSE

The tie style blouse I’ve been seeing a ton lately and this style from Express is good because the tie is removable making it a very versatile item. The buttons are functional and hidden and can gap a bit so I used a double sided tape to keep it closed. For being a creme color it’s not too sheer and has a beautiful drape to it. True to size, wearing L.

BLACK DRESS

This fall Spanx came out with this “Perfect” Dress and I also think it’s pretty darn perfect! It has a great A-line shape with 3/4 sleeve and kangaroo pocket. It’s not too long or short and has a TON of stretch. I sized up bc I felt like the L was a bit too tight across the chest and prefer it in an XL.

GREY SWEATER

This Amazon sweater is another classic staple. It has more of a cotton feel and is a weight that can be layered under or over other items. The rounded neck works great for layering with a button down shirt but soft enough to wear along against the skin. True to size, wearing L.

SHORT SLEEVE FLORAL TOP

This short sleeve top from Maurice’s might be a little too thin for some of your climates but it’s a great layering piece especially if you have a warm office! I love the color combo that pulls everything in the capsule with touches of black, grey, pink & khaki. It runs tts, wearing L.

TAUPE TURTLENECK SWEATER

This final top is another sweater turtleneck but this style is more fitted making it great for layering, wearing on it’s own and mixing and matching. It has a longer hem but is not “tunic” length so also easier to tuck. I got 2 colors in this and the taupe heather worked the best with everything. True to size, wearing L.

I hope you love this season’s workwear. As a reminder there are no many alternative combinations of outfits by adding some tights, more shoes, different jackets etc. If you have a more casual work environment add a pair of dark wash jeans and sub for any “black or grey” bottom and you have a great looking casual business outfit.
