Lumiere Velvet Ballet Top (wearing similar older Gibson top) | Etoile Plaid Box Pleat Skirt | red pumps (tts) | gift box
I don’t know what your December looks like but ours is 80% booked at this point! It feels like with kids, family and work events our November and December turn into a marathon of activity. Although I will still be holding off putting up my tree until after Thanksgiving I am already planning for holiday event outfits.
Luckily my friend Cassie at Hi Sugarplum and the team at Gibson sent me a few pieces from the new Gibson x Hi Sugarplum Holiday collection to get ready! I love that all of these pieces that can be dressed up or down depending on the event.

As these collections tend to sell-out quickly I wanted to give you my sizing recommendations first.
I am a 10/12 typically M in Gisbon tops and L in Gibson bottoms, 36DD so if something is fitting tight in the chest it can at times be due to the cup size. I am 5’5 and in-between a petite and regular on length **this is important in this collection there are items I would have gotten in a petite.
Also look for the * this indicates items that are a HIGH sell-out risk!
- Noel Bow Back Top (satin, *foil & Swiss) tts, M **updated I received this blouse and feel that it runs tight in the chest so size up if you are larger chested I need a L
- Double V Tank (*foil dot, velvet & *sequin) tts, M
- Lumiere Ballet Top (*velvet, sequin & ponte) tts, M
- Coco bow skirt (*foil dot & swiss dot) size down if in-between, M **updated I received the M and it fits fine on my true waist if you want a little more comfort I would have stayed with the L
- Etoile Box Pleat Skirt (*plaid, Jacquard) tts, L (I ordered a XL but it was too big and clipped in the back for pics, also if you want this above the knee consider ordering petite for under 5’5)
- Joyeux Dress (*plaid & jacquard) size up if larger chested running small in the bodice, I would order L **friends that have ordered have mentioned this runs tight in the chest
- *Soiree Sequin Shift Dress size down for more fitted look or petite for shorter length. I’m in a L but could have done a M for a more fitted look or LP for shorter length. In a L I will need to take in the arm holes just a bit.
- *Brigitte Wide Leg Pant size down if in-between in a L. These started to slip since the back has elastic and they were long. I hemmed about 1/2″ in the pictures. I would have preferred LP or M.
- Mimi Velvet Blazer tts, M I have this style blazer in white (in pics) and wear M
Now that we have all that awkwardness about sizing out of the way Let’s talk about these outfits!! Today I’m sharing four different looks to get me (and you) through the holiday season.
FESTIVE CASUAL

Double V sequin tank | KUT distressed jeans | boho cuff |pumps (similar leopard pumps) | Kendra Scott hoop earrings | Gibson blazer | NEW velvet Blazer | gold lace clutch (similar in pink)

This year will be the 2nd time that we host a holiday event at our home for my husband’s team and their families. Since it’s holiday but also casual I’m gonna wear jeans but I wanted to still feel fun and festive. The DOUBLE V SEQUIN TANK is perfect for these occasions. Now when I’m entertaining I’ll probably wear it on it’s own but if headed out for a date night or dinner I will need a jacket and the Gibson blazer is perfect.
Now I already love my Gibson blazer but there is a NEW BLACK VELVET BLAZER that I’ve fallen in love with and will be ordering today! Although I also think the white Gibson blazer dresses up the look and can be worn for the holidays or just any day that calls for a little casual glam.
I obviously grabbed this Double V Tank in sequin but it is also coming in velvet and a gorgeous leopard foil dot and honestly you can’t go wrong with any of them!
FANCY DINNER

gibson high neck ruffle neck blouse | Brigitte Wide Leg Pant | Keke Pointed Toe Pump (tts) | gold lace clutch (similar in pink) | vina drop earrings | similar Tory Burch watch

As you might know but my husband is an executive with a larger corporation so every holiday season there’s always some sort of holiday dinner that we are invited to. It’s typically nice but not formal so since I sit for a good portion of the night I want to be pretty comfortable. The BRIGITTE WIDE LEG PANT is perfect because the back has an elastic stretch and the front has a wide satin band.
I love my ruffle neck blouse from Gibson but to make it a bit more HOLIDAY I am grabbing the NOEL BOW BACK TOP in foil to go with this outfit! This look could also work great for cocktail parties, or a fancy friends giving.
Check out the Noel Bow Back Top:
These Michael Kors heels are higher than my typical Sam Edelman and after walking a bit seemed a little too high for me. Also online it says to go up 1/2 size and I would disagree, but they are gorgeous. If you need a shorter heel go with these.
TRADITIONAL HOLIDAY

(wearing older Gibson top but similar colors and shape to the) Lumiere velvet ballet top | Etoile Box Plaid Pleat Skirt | red pumps (tts)

Lumiere Sequin Ballet Top | City Coat (size down)

Almost every year for the past 15 years my husband and I have gone to the nutcracker. When we started having kids we brought them along too! One of my favorite parts of going to the ballet is seeing all the little girls in their fancy holiday dresses. It’s our time as a family to get dressed up and feel a little fancy holiday magic.
This ETOILE BOX PLAID PLEAT SKIRT is the perfect classic holiday look paired with the LUMIERE VELVET BALLET TOP (not pictured) I don’t know if there’s anything more Christmas. This would also be a gorgeous outfit for holiday family pictures. The skirt has pockets and it fully lined with a thicker wool feeling material.
Now if you have seen some of the sneak peeks and have been eyeing the Joyeux Plaid Dress I don’t blame you! It is a short sleeve and comes in both plaid and a beautiful jacquard. Now since I am a little larger chested I heard that the dress is running slightly long and tight in the bodice so I felt the skirt was a better option for me.
GLITTER AND GLAM

Soiree Sequin Shift Dress | earrings | similar pumps |
Spanx Lace bodysuit (what I wear under)

Now when Gibson and Cassie are getting together you MUST know that there is going to be a piece that is a showstopper and THIS. IS. IT.
I heard that this dress was the number one request from the women helping launch this collection and there is no surprise why… leopard & sequin, enough said. The great part about this dress is that it is running a bit longer than other Gibson dresses I have had so even if you are over 5’5 you can wear this!! As mentioned above I could have done this dress in a M (more fitted) in LP (shorter fit) I’m in a L and will need to have it taken in a bit before the holidays hit.
Now many of you will grab this dress for a holiday gala or New Year’s Eve party but I grabbed it because in January I’m hitting the big 4-0!! I will be celebrating in Vegas with some of my closest girlfriends and when I saw this dress I thought IT’S PERFECT !!

I hope these outfits help get your holidays off to an amazing start. I want to thank Cassie at Hi Sugarplum and the Gibson Look team for including me once again in launching a collection it is truly an honor and dream come true!

I’m new to your blog, over from Cassie’s. Your detailed description of sizing is great. I wish more bloggers would be so detailed oriented. Ordering clothes online for women is a crap shoot. Can I say that?
Plus, it’s so nice to find a blogger who is my size.
