Holiday Attire

This weekend my husband was shopping with my three year old son and they saw a Santa in the store. My husband said, “Christmas is coming soon” and my son said “Yup, in 8 minutes” he might not be exactly right but it sure does feel that way! With the holidays approaching it’s time to gear up for the parties! Whether you are headed to something formal, semi-formal or ugly sweater style it’s that time of year to pick up some festive wear. I will start with formal since I found these two amazing dresses.

This velvet dress is stretchy but true to size, it has a just below the knee hem and long sleeves for those colder nights. I was so excited to find this new Spanx sexy but suck it in shapewear (I’m in a large) because it has a low enough v-neck to wear with this dress and with my favorite jumpsuit (check out the blog post on that outfit here). I grabbed my favorite sparkly clutch and a pair of Michael Kors glittery heels and I’m ready for a holiday bash! My pumps I bought two years ago in Vegas but they just came out with the same style in a new all silver that would look fantastic with this look!fullsizeoutput_4087

The next dress I grabbed because I’m a big fan of Eliza J dresses and the price was right at $118… not to mention I LOVE green! This dress fits true to size and has a good amount of stretch so even with the high neck it was not too tight across the chest. The only issue I had was when I bought this dress it had some creases in the velvet but I’m pretty sure I can get those out with a quick steam (I just haven’t gotten around to it yet) so know that the lines on the top are not in the dress. Although the creases in the side are real and a great side gather that brings in the waist. I threw on this faux fur capelet to show how gorgeous this dress looks with it. I grabbed it in a large and the more I try it on I’m pretty sure I should have stuck with my true size in a medium so I’ll be exchanging. I would probably switch my shoes if I was wearing the capelet but either way I grabbed this new eye palette to bring out my green eyes wearing this holiday dress.IMG_5414

When I started looking at our calendar I realized that we also have some festive causal events for the holidays where a cute top and jeans or dark pants are needed. The first top I grabbed is this Burgundy velvet top. Again like the dresses it’s fitting true to size and I’m in a medium. This top has a puff shoulder and looks great with a skirt or dressed down with my black jeans. Here I paired it with this LOFT necklace that has a ton of jewel tones and I would wear with my leopard heels or I might be grabbing these mesh dot ones as well.
